Alex
Buttery
Percussionist
Alex
has just finished studying for a music degree at Salford University
and is now working in a school in New Mills.
Her
first introduction to banding came when she was 15 years of
age. She joined the Whaley Bridge Band playing Solo Trombone.
Under the direction of Alan Wycherly the band progressed to
the National Finals in Nottingham.
She
took a short break from banding to concentrate on her studies
but return to Whaley Bridge (under the direction of Tony Wyatt).
The band at that time needed a percussionist and Alex stepped
in to take up the challenge.
Neddy
(Soprano) approached her to help out the VBS Poynton
Band at the Buxton Entertainment Contest on percussion. She
did, reluctantly, but enjoyed it immensely and with the band
winning decided to join.
"I'm
looking forward to my time at Poynton" said Alex. "The
players in the band have been great and made me feel really
welcome. The only problem is Dave's (Percussion) liking for
'Spring Onions' he can really stink sometimes!".
My
favourite test pieces are Variations on an Enigma and Resurgam.
