soon joined the Avonbank (Evesham) Band. By the time he was
10 years old the family had moved up to the Manchester area
and he joined the Burnage Band. Two years later progressed

Adrian Horn
Solo
Cornet
Adrian started playing the cornet at the age of 8. By the
age of 15 Adrian was playing on the front-row of Hade Edge
Band (via a stint on Soprano) and was also the Principal
Trumpet in the Kirklees Youth Orchestra, Wind Orchestra and
Jazz Orchestra, as well as taking over the Principal
Trumpet chair in Halifax Symphony Orchestra.
After completing his A Levels, he gained a place at the
London College of Music where he studied trumpet under Bill
Houghton (Principal Trumpet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra)
and Nicholas Thompson (Principal Trumpet of the Chamber
Orchestra of Europe). During his time at the LCM Adrian
played for numerous amateur and semi-professional
orchestras in the London area as well as helping out
numerous Championship bands throughout the country. He also
held the position of Lead Trumpet in the LCM Big Band for 3
years and was fortunate to play alongside such jazz greats
as John Surman and Pete King, and he also got to trade
solos with the legendary Johnny Dankworth. In his final
year of college, Adrian was privileged to be awarded the
James Watson Brass Prize.
After leaving college Adrian took up trumpet playing
professionally, performing in theatre pit-bands and onboard
cruise-ships, but soon realised that playing for a living
wasn't as much fun as playing for your own enjoyment and so
put down his trumpet to find a 'normal' job.
He started banding again, after a long break, in 2008,
joining VBS Poynton in January 2009, and is enjoying his
playing once again.
Peter
Weaver
Solo
Cornet
Pete's first introduction to music was learning to play the
Cello at primary school on the Wirral aged 9. By the time
he'd reached secondary school, he was desperate to play a
Brass instrument and started playing the French Horn at the
age of 14, playing Principal Horn in Wirral Schools
Orchestra for 4 years.
After going along to his local Brass Band and realising
that they didn't have French Horns in the band! Pete was
given a cornet to try and has been playing ever since.
Pete is really enjoying playing some interesting and
difficult music with Poynton and is pleased to have joined
such a friendly band.
