Eddie Webb
2nd
Trombone
Eddie started banding in 1984, at the Windsor Prize Band,
Salford and steadily progressed through East Manchester,
Bury Brass and Walkden Bands until his university years in
the North East where he joined the GT Group Peterlee Band
and the University Big Band.
After working overseas for a few years, he played for
Blackburn & Darwen Band in 2001 and later in 2004,
Stalybridge Old Band.
Eddie is looking forward to the slightly scary challenges
of playing championship section test pieces and would like
to thank everyone in the band for the very warm welcome
given.
Most memorable banding moment: Marching passed the Houses
of Parliament at the front of the Miners Protest March in
1992.
Dave Deacon
Bass
Trombone
Dave started playing the trombone in the early 1960’s at
the age of 13. His earliest playing experience was with the
Leeds Music Centre Orchestra, the Leeds Symphony Society
Orchestra, the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra and various
brass ensembles.
Dave then played for a couple of years in a soul band
called the Tropical Boot Company.
At the age of 18, he went to university, took up ‘studenty’
things like excessive beer-drinking, pot-noodles and
sleeping, and gave up playing the trombone.
Dave started playing again about 10 years later, in 1979,
joining Stockport Silver Band, then Urmston and Daveyhulme
Band, and in 1981, Poynton Band, serving as Band Secretary
then Band Chairman in the 1980’s.
His ambition is to play at a contest not having to go to
the toilet after one of Andy Lawton’s visits.
